Aarushi Murder Case - Krishna breaks down in court, alleges 'CBI is torturing me'

GHAZIABAD: Krishna — the man who has been pitched by CBI to the centrestage of the investigations into the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case after having been on the fringes of the Noida police probe — broke down in court on Monday when the agency produced him to seek extension of his remand.

With puffy eyes — indicating lack of sleep — the compounder and receptionist at Dr Rajesh Talwar's Noida clinic burst into tears and accused CBI of torturing him.

Speaking before special CBI magistrate Sapna Mishra, 25-year-old Krishna said: "They keep beating me and do not allow me to sleep night after night. And, they tell me I have to say whatever they want. I am innocent. I was asleep at home at the time of the murders."

But he will have to spend four more days in CBI custody with the judge giving the agency an extension of remand.

Krishna has been put through polygraph, narco-analysis and psychological tests. While arresting him on June 13, CBI said he would help it in recovering the murder weapon and the mobiles of Aarushi and Hemraj. But there has been an ambiguity surrounding his role. In fact, when CBI had got an extension of his remand on June 17, its counsel had told the court that he was not cooperating and, in fact, misleading the investigators.

But it also said in the same breath that he had "confessed to his involvement in the crime along with others" even as Krishna's counsel rebutted the claim, saying no confession had been made. "Krishna revealed that Hemraj has asked him to bring a khukri when he came to Talwar's residence around midnight on May 15. He said he had taken the khukri himself," a CBI statement said.

Reports had then surfaced in some sections of the media that Krishna's fingerprints had been found on the walls of Aarushi's room and bathroom. But, on being asked about this, CBI joint director (special crime) Arun Kumar had denied the report.
