Raj Kumar involved in Aarushi's murder: CBI

NEW DELHI: In the latest development in the Noida twin murder case, the special court in Ghaziabad sent Rajkumar to CBI custody for fourteen days. ( Watch )

During the court hearing on Saturday, the Central Bureau of Investigation said that Durrani’s servant, Raj Kumar had confessed to his involvement in both Aarushi and Hemraj's murder.

For the first time the CBI told the court as to what happened to Aarushi's mobile. Raj Kumar confirmed that he had switched off her mobile and then eventually destroyed it.

In his statement to the investigative agency under 161 of Code of Criminal Procedure, Raj Kumar said, "I broke and destroyed Aarushi's mobile phone. I could however help CBI in recovering Hemraj's mobile phone and the weapon used in the murder - the khukri."

After the hearing on Saturday, the CBI told media personnel that Raj Kumar's role in the case is peripheral and he could face punishment with regard to destruction of evidence. The CBI also went on to say that the murders were clearly pre-planned and those involved in the case have made sure that all evidence was destroyed.

In a statement that could split wide open the controversial case, the CBI will now look to probe into the case further. However, they clearly said that Raj Kumar's confession does not take away the focus from prime suspects Dr Rajesh Talwar and his compounder Krishna.

Dr Nupur Talwar and the Durrani's are under the needle of suspicion as well. However, the CBI strongly believed that the case might face more twists and turns, but Raj Kumar's confession comes in as a breakthrough in the case.
